Historic Sexual Abuse Allegations
There has been a huge emphasis of these types of cases over recent years, due to allegations made that high profile public figures had been committing sexual offences on adults and children, sometimes many years ago.
There are often no witnesses to the allegations as often there was only the victim and alleged perpetrator present when any of the allegations are said to have taken place. Due to the passage of time, memories have often faded and timelines of who is alleged to have done what and to whom are often blurry.
In addition to the obvious pressure and stress of being accused of such cases, the evidence in this area is complex. There are several exceptions as to the types of evidence that can be relied upon by both the Crown Prosecution Service and ourselves in defending you. Whilst the principle of innocent until proven guilty still exists, when accused of such an offence it can often feel very different and such allegations are hard to fight.
It is vital that you get specialist help in such matters to explain everything to you and help you through the complex and often distressing proceedings.
