Domestic Violence
There is no such offence as ‘domestic violence’ but any time an offence is committed in a domestic setting, it automatically makes it more serious. The obvious meaning of a domestic situation is husband and wife, but offence committed between partners and parents or other family members also count as domestic and aggravate the offence.
Such allegations can also involve cases of controlling and coercive type behaviour and assault (see other Controlling an Cohesive Behavior and Common Assualt sections)
