Burglary

Burglary

Entering another person’s home as a trespasser (without their permission) and taking items from that property is an offence of burglary. Sentences can be lengthy particularly if the occupants are present at the house or the items taken are of great value.

For an offence of burglary, you can receive up to 14 years in prison. If you are a repeat offender sentences are very high.  Aggravating features such as the householders being present at the time or any damage or vandalism at the property will make your sentence longer. We can look at the evidence against you and advise carefully on the strength of that evidence and what is likely to happen through the court process. It is vital you seek our advice as soon as you are interviewed by the police about an allegation of burglary.
